Alliance: He is neutral, with a slight leaning towards the Order of the Phoenix
Status in Society (see the Available Characters page for options)*: living in society
Boggart: His worst fear is not keeping his younger sisters safe and being responsible for something happening to them because of something he did. This would show up in the form of two small graves likely with the names of his sisters on them.
Patronus: Stephen's patronus is a Tortiose, which for a while he was not proud of, but he did research about the animal and came to the conclusion that while he was not really proud of it, he respected it. In mythology, it is said that the tortiose carries the world on his shoulders and in other myths it is sad that god got the sand from the back of the tortiose to make contients. It is also the scared animal of Hermes, the greek god of messages. While Stephen isn't running about to tell everyone what it is, he no longer worries about it.
Personality (include several weaknesses and strengths): One word that has always been used to describe Stephen is Pragmatic. He takes logical steps to a solution to a problem he's having and usually isn't the first to loose his head in a stressful situation. This does not mean that he is uncaring or aloof, but in times of chaos he takes a special comfort in the cold hard facts. Along with this, Stephen is a completely rational person, able to rationalize any course of action he chooses to take whether or not it is really the right one, this skill he learned from his dad and might have earned him a job as a muggle lawyer if the time wasn't what it is. He is a very studious person, even years after school. He believes that one should not act like they know anything until they do research so he often finds himself looking up things for fun--a habit of his which has given him a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of the most random things. Stephen is a hard worker over all, with a strong sense of duty to his family. To his father for providing him with all he should ever need, he strives to be a calm, intelligent man who is both respected and trusted. To his sisters, he feels a strong duty to protect them and shield them from the war the best he can.
Stephen proves to be a different person than one might assume from his outward appearance. While the boy still has an impeccable wit and intelligence, around those he feels particularly comfortable with, he seems to "grow" emotions. There is a select few that he lets down his guard for, but they have not steered him wrong in the past. He has a tendency to worry when he is by himself, he's noticed that lately these worries have been about his friends who are in hiding and his sisters who are home from school. He tries his hardest to do the right things though he finds that most of the time the right thing is quite inconvenient for him and his family. At this moment, he feels its best to stay out of the war and provide his sisters with a safe home. Though he has been considering opening the back rooms to those on the run and possibly getting a slave for nothing more than the facts he feels bad for a majority of those in Azkaban.
Lately, due to a lack of communication with his closest friends he feels both disconnected and a little trapt. He has been keeping his thoughts and his emotions to himself and he is convinced that it is slowly driving him crazy.
Family and Friends (list relationships with them):
Stephen Matthew Cornfoot III (FATHER)-- His father was a healer and was often working long hours. Stephen often did things to get his fathers attention (he secretly seeked his dad's encouragement when he was little) and most of the time recieved nothing for it. He found himself wanting to be just like his father for the vast part of his life. At the same time though, his father remained a mystery to him as his father was always busy, then his mothers death and Stephen was off to school before anyone could blink an eye. He wanted his fathers respect and that is what pushed him all through school, hoping to please his now surly father with great scores. It wasn't until his seventh year did his dad reveal himself as a Death Eater to his oldest son, hoping that he too would pledge his loyalty. For the next two years, Stephen skirted the issue torn between his friends and his father. When he heard his father was deceased, he was shockingly calm and found that he didn't miss him because they didn't have the relationship he often pretended they did.
Emilie Jocelyn Ackhart-Cornfoot (MOTHER)-- For the first six years of Stephens life it seemed to just be him, his mother and their house elf Wendy with breif cameos from his father. He always thinks of his mother fondly. He was only nine when she passed away so their relationship never hit that rocky point that most parents hit with their children when they realize that their children have grown up. He doesnt have a bad memory of her at all, though his memories of her period are vague and minimal at best.
Ashlyn Allegra Cornfoot (SISTER; 16)-- His relationship with his sister closest in age is a hard one, for the past three years he has been both her older brother and her father figure at the same time. He's been there for her more than his father was there for any of them, but he's still not sure what the appropriate time to be her brother is, and what time is it to go into father mode. Despite that though, he would say that they have a good relationship often working as a team when it comes to the youngest. He knows that he could go to his sister with anything, but he prefers not to burden her with anything.
Janelle Emilie Cornfoot (SISTER; 13)-- He would say that unfortunately he has more of an authoritive relationship with his youngest sister than anything else. Jani was just born when their mother passed away and only ten when their father died leaving her in her brothers care at ten years old. He tries his best to teach her well (Ashlyn helps him a lot in this area) and he knows that one day she'll be great, he just hopes the war ends before she gets old enough to have to pick sides.
Appearance (paragraph minimum.): Stephen is the tall and slightly toned type despite his less than athletic job for the Prophet. He has dish-water blond hair that he keeps short in an attempt to look almost proffesional looking, he has sharp blue eyes that always look calm and maybe a shade lost, like he is looking for something even when he isnt. He has a warm, innocent smile.
PB: Chad Michael Murray
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Achievements (OWLS, NEWTS, Animagus, Quidditch, etc.): Ravenclaw quidditch beater, 8 OWLS, 8 NEWTS
Hobbies (Quidditch, Astronomy, Chess, Gob Stones): Reading if that counts and Quidditch. Despite his desire he never joined the DA.
Biography (three paragraphs minimum):
The story of Stephen Cornfoot IV starts with his parents, his father Stephen Cornfoot III was a Ravenclaw alumni and seemingly born to be a healer. He would get so busy with his work that he would forget about his own life for long periods of time, until one day he realized that he was 46 and unwed. Emilie Ackhart was a Beauxbaton alumni who came from affluent French family, she studied healing in France before transferring to st. Mungo’s at age 22. The young girl met Stephen Cornfoot III and considered herself in love, both bloodlines being pure they got no hassle from either family.
Stephen Matthew Cornfoot IV was born to the unlikely pair 2 May, 1980. Stephen Sr. told his wife that she should not expect to return to work because she must raise their son. Emilie was less than happy about this but she knew well enough not to argue with him. It was in those months that Emilie realized that she had entered a marriage formed more for convenience then love. So, Emilie stayed at home while her husband took on extra hours at work, if for nothing else than to avoid the family he never wanted. Emilie did her best around the house and raising her son, most of her companionship came in the form of the family house elf, Wendy.
As baby Stephen grew up it was obvious that he had a curious streak. When he was able to walk, Wendy and Emilie had to watch him at seemingly all hours of the day. He loved to explore, learn, touch, he was always getting into something. As Emilie began to teach him, she realized that he was a fast learner and simply knew that he would be in Ravenclaw. Emilie did the best she could for her son. When he turned six, Emilie found herself pregnant again and so for a while Stephen spent more time under the car of Wendy than his mother. It was at that time that he seemed to seek the most attention. He would draw things and write things to show his father in hopes that his father would give him the reassurance that he needed (not that he knew he was doing it at the time, after all he was only six), still Stephen Sr. ignored his son.
Then came the birth of the first daughter in the family, Ashlyn. Stephen had gotten used to his books and his learning by that point in time and didn’t mind that the new baby was getting all of his mums attention. If that were one thing that Stephen had taken from the multiple experiences with his father was that you didn’t need to be acknowledged all the time to be good. The years passed by fine and eventually his younger sister grew on him.
Stephen was nine years old when his mother was pregnant for the third time. He was excited, there would be another baby for Ashlyn to play with while he was at school learning all sorts of cool things. Unfortunately, there were many complications with the birth and Emilie Michelle Ackhart-Cornfoot did not make it through. However, the new born, then dubbed Janelle Emilie Cornfoot, did. Despite what one would think, the two older siblings did not blame their younger sibling at all but instead carried for her like their mother would have wanted them to. Their father hired a nanny of sorts to take care of them.
The next year, Stephen started school. These years are a blur to him now, everyday seeming just like the next. Stephen palled around with his classmates and various kids throughout the school, but he mostly tried to stay out of trouble and always did his work. While he wasn’t exactly a stick in the mud he was always extremely practical, though his better friends could talk him into doing whatever they wanted. In school, Stephen found a great interest in the arts, especially writing. The more he got into the subject he found a practical way to join his love for the written word with his love for hard facts: Journalism.
Seventh year was by far the hardest year for Stephen, not because the teachers messed with him, they didn’t. His seventh year is when his father shared his Death Eater status with him, it was the year that people were getting hurt just walking in the halls, it was the year that all of his friends were joining the DA. It was the only time since the death of his mother that he ever truly felt lost. He didn’t know which way to go, so he didn’t go anyway. He stayed perfectly still and was completely miserable the whole time. Still, he had an image he had to maintain and in a sick way he was still trying to earn a sense of pride or some kind of respect from his dad. That never came and for two years after his graduation, he managed to dance around his father’s questions of loyalty.
After graduation, Stephen followed his dream and got a job working for the Daily Prophet, figuring that the war would end soon and then the journalism could go back to the level of integrity it had always had (in his head he was painting the Order the winner). He found after years that it hadn’t, but he didn’t want to leave what he was doing though he knew it was wrong. Money was money and it would look bad if he left now, wouldn’t it?
It was late in 2000 that Stephen went home to his flat to the news that his father had died. He had been told that his father had accompanied a group of Aurors who were apprehending a muggleborn criminal in a muggle area of Brighton near were Cornfoot manor was. He had gone along of course incase one of the trained fighters got injured and needed immediate medical attention. Through his years working at the Prophet, he knew this meant that his father was involved in a muggle killing spree that back fired.
Stephen moved from his flat to the manor he grew up in, now he was responsible for not only his life but the well being of 16 year old Ashlyn and 13 year old Janelle, which meant that even if he wanted to he couldn’t do something radical. So, he stayed at his reporter job lying to the public. So, he put on his best neutral face in public. So, he acknowledged all the rules that Voldemort set for people of his status.
But he couldn’t silence the guilt in his head, some of his best friends in school had been muggleborn and blood traitors and all sorts of things because his mum didn’t have the same prejudices that his dad seemed so deeply seeded in. So, he began to take in those on the run, keeping them in the back few rooms of the decent sized manor.
Journal Sample (two paragraphs minimum):
I found this book on the bottom of a rather large stack of books in my library. I thought I would, well, I’m not entirely certain what I thought I would do in this instance. There aren’t too many people that I do not keep in contact with, but wish to. I suppose that is why I am writing in this now, obviously it’s not because I need to writing exercise, I’m a journalist after all.
Things have been busier than one might imagine. My younger sisters are back around home now, so between work and making sure they get everything they need it has been less than easy. Luckily, however, both girls have pretty well adjusted heads on their shoulders, however they are both requesting that some of their friends come over, which isn’t entirely undoable, I’m just not used to having lots of people in my home.
I should look into getting someone to watch over my sisters while I am otherwise preoccupied though.
[Private to self]
I sat my sisters down today and told them what was on my mind. Afterward, I spoke to Ashlyn about everything that was on my mind. I can’t protect her from this war, she’s almost an adult now, so the best thing I can do for her is tell her what I do know and help her make the appropriate decisions. It was a good talk I think. I told her about the muggleborn that I let stay here in the back room while they were at school. She said they wouldn’t mind if I let people stay here.
But, who would I even contact about doing that? How do I know that once I let them stay here that they won’t do something to endanger my family? I can’t let anything happen to my sisters.
[Private to the Order of the Phoenix]
I don't know if you are the right people to contact, but you are as good as any.
Let me start first by stressing, I DO NOT WISH TO GET INVOLVED IN THIS WAR. I do not wish to join your ranks. I do not wish to know anything about what you are doing. I just want to live my life, support my family and keep my family safe. However, I am aware of the vast amount of suffering that people are being subjected to because of my late father and the people like him. I will also say that as a reporter for the Prophet that I myself am not helping either. Some of my best friends are among those who are running or missing.
I wish to change that, or well, alleviate the suffering just a little. I have rooms in the back of my manor that are unused and I would be willing to let people whom are on the run stay there as long as they do not do anything risky so to as draw attention to themselves or lead those who would be unpleased by the situation to my home.

RP Sample (two to three paragraphs minimum):
Stephen paced, it’s not something he normally did but for some reason it struck him as the time to start. He technically probably should have been working on cooking dinner for his sisters since he had long since freed the house elf that used to take care of that (though he found that she still stuck around for the most part, not that he minded). Had he really wrote to the Order? Why would he do that? Were they even still in existence? Ashlyn said that she had heard on the radio that they were about to regroup, but he had doubts that the ministry would let that news air. Stephen knew better than mst about the amount of censorship the ministry had placed on the media and at how tight a grasp they held it. Ashlyn also seemed far too ready to help them and he worried even more about what she would do when he began to let people stay in the back rooms.
In an attempt to calm the pacing and the nerves that seemed to set themselves on the edge, Stephen sat in his desk chair. He stared at the journal entry he had written. Would they even bother responding to it? Who would respond? It was a source of fear and curiosity that had the 22 year old on the edge of his seat waiting for writing to appear under his own, waiting to see just what would exactly happen. He closed his eyes and hoped that he made the right decision.
